Butyl

Description

Butyl (IIR) rubber is manufactured from a blend of isobutylene and isoprene. Our commercial grade is typically used as cost effective gasket or seal for general purpose applications.

Application

Butyl has exceptionally low gas permeability making it ideal for inner tubes and high pressure/vacuum sealing applications. It also has excellent resistance to heat, ozone, weathering, dilute acids and alkalis. It is not suitable for use in mineral or petroleum based fluids.
